DVV International Uzbekistan is currently looking for a Project Coordinator
General project information:
DVV International will be implementing the 16-months project “Local pilot projects at four locations in Uzbekistan to strengthen the resilience of the local population with a focus on particularly vulnerable groups (PVE)” with funding from the GIZ in Uzbekistan. The project aims at preventing radicalisation and violent extremism by enhancing the levels of information and capacity of local actors in order to increase the resilience of vulnerable groups to radicalization, namely youth, migrants, (ex)-prisoners, as well as generally people in precarious socio-economic life situations such as people lacking an income and perspective. This aim will be achieved by expanding offers in the fields of professional and civic education including basic religious knowledge, as well as psycho-social support and resocialization approaches, and by integrating international good practices and increasing the potential of partner organisations.
The Project Coordinator (PC) will be based in the DVV International office in Tashkent and work closely with the project staff both in Tashkent, Nukus, Termez, Karshi, civil society organizations and stakeholders, to ensure timely and quality implementation of the project. She/He will oversee day-to-day progress of activities and will ensure that the implementation of the project activities, meeting DVV International and GIZ quality standards, is completed on-time, within budget, and to maximum effect. The PC will also collaborate closely with the DVV International team as well as trainers, mentors and experts working on the project to ensure the deliverables are of high quality, and delivered in a timely manner.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Plans and coordinates project implementation in project locations, ensuring smooth and qualitative project cycle management in accordance with the project activity plan and budget;
- Determines appropriate implementing mechanisms to achieve the projects’ strategic goals;
- Plans, coordinates and monitors the project activities and achievement of milestones, ensuring compliance with the implementation plan, project budget, corporate and donor guidelines for management and financial procedures;
- Develops activity reports in accordance with needed formats within the set deadlines, including Final Report;
- Leads the communication and cooperation with a wide spectrum of local partners and stakeholders in the framework of the assigned project on behalf of DVV International;
- Coordinates a professional knowledge management on the project, including the compilation of relevant information, knowledge transfers and transparent flow/exchange of relevant information;
- Collaborates with other project staff on an on-going basis;
- Ensures project visibility;
- Participates in the preparation, implementation and presentation of results of the Project
As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties
Qualification requirements:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Security Studies, Religious Studies, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding, International Relations;
- At least 3 years of project coordination and / or implementation experience in international cooperation;
- Up to 3 years of relevant experience at the community and national levels on social cohesion programming and/or conflict prevention / PVE programming;
- Proven experience of working with national state institutions in any capacity;
- Experience in financial and budget management in a monitoring / oversight role;
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation;
- Proven management competence;
- Excellent communication and team working skills;
- Sensitivity in cooperation with partners, and in working on sensitive topics;
- Presentation and moderation skills;
- Advanced knowledge of Uzbek, English, and Russian languages (written and oral), knowledge of German language is an asset;
- Advanced user of IT and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
