Human Rights in Action: Championing Change with Youth and CSOs

Project objectives: To promote a human rights-based approach by strengthening the capacity of civil society and encouraging youth participation in the development of inclusive and resilient societies, based on the rule of law.

Project tasks: To create opportunities for networking and dialog between multiple stakeholders to promote joint efforts in human rights advocacy and democratic participation; To strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) and law enforcement authorities to exercise the Human Rights-Based Approach, to advocate for fundamental freedoms, to promote accountability, and to encourage pro-active youth, including disadvantaged groups, such as prisoners and released youth, in democratic processes at local and national levels; To increase opportunities for youth, activists and vulnerable groups to participate in democratic processes.

Project locations: Tashkent, Surkhandarya and Namangan regions

Target groups: Young prisoners and those released from penitentiary institutions; Youth: students of universities and professional colleges; Employees of makhalla committees and law enforcement agencies; Representatives of civil society organizations.

Project methodology: In the process of implementation, andragogical approaches (a methodology for teaching adults) and the general principles of penitentiary pedagogy and psychology will be apllied. The primary sources of teaching materials will be the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan as well as the international human rights treaties ratified by the Republic of Uzbekistan.
