‘Adult Education versus COVID-19’ | Contest marathon for civil society representatives

A number of adult education providers (NGOs, non-government education institutions, cultural centres, etc.) increase in Uzbekistan, which rebuild their activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Different approaches are used, including psychological, legal, health consultations by phone, to support people to address disinformation and depression; online master classes are conducted and information on useful online resources is distributed to the population; training programs are adapted to distance learning; various motivation contests are announced, etc. DVV International Uzbekistan joins this movement and announces a contest marathon ‘Adult Education versus COVID-19’ for representatives of civil society.

The aim of the contest is to support ideas of the civil society sector aimed at mitigating the impact of the pandemic.

The marathon will consist of three stages:

The first stage is posters competition, will be held from 8 May to 7 June (a winner will be announced on 10 June).

The second stage is video-reels contest (up to 3 minutes), from 11 June to 11 July (a winner will be announced on 14 July).

The third stage is a fair of project ideas, from July 15 to August 15 (a winner will be announced on 20 August).

Individuals along with the civil society organizations can participate in the 1st stage of the contest (posters competition). The 2nd and 3rd stages are only for organizations. The winner (organization) of the third stage will receive a grant-offer to implement the project. Participation in all three stages is compulsory for a winner (organization). All contest steps will be dedicated to the abovementioned topic.

The posters competition will identify one winner (organization or individual). The selected poster will become a visual brand of the entire contest marathon and will be used during all stages of the contest. Posters can be painted in traditional ways (paints, pencils, etc.), as well as by using computer applications. In the first case, posters of participants should be converted into a digital version. All posters should be posted by participants directly on the Facebook page of the DVV International Uzbekistan (https://www.facebook.com/dvv.international.Uzbekistan/) under the contest call message (in the comments section). Participating organizations should indicate a full name of their organization while individual authors should write his/her full name. The number of ‘likes’ will be considered by the contest panel, but ‘likes’ are not a decisive factor in selecting a winner.

The copyright to use the submitted posters and video-reels will be transferred to the DVV International.

Requirements for posters:

  1. Posters should be dedicated to the topic ‘Adult Education vs. COVID-19’.
  2. Posters must be static (dynamic posters will not be considered).
  3. Posters should have the following characteristics: size: 70 x 100 cm, 300 dpi, max. 10 Mbytes, vertical layout, JPG or PDF, submitted works must be ready for printing.
  4. If a poster contains a text, the latter can be in one of three languages or simultaneously in two or three languages (Uzbek, Russian, English).

After the quarantine completion, the exhibition of posters will be organized, and the best posters will become a basis of desktop calendars with quotations on Adult Education, to be produced by DVV International Uzbekistan.

Detailed requirements of the 2nd and 3rd stages will be published later. However, since the timeframe of the contest is tight, participants willing to participate in the marathon can commence to develop their ideas and projects, to be submitted at the 2nd and 3rd stages of the contest.

We are waiting for the contest posters to be placed on our Facebook page under the contests call message. We wish you creative approaches and bright ideas! Have a good start in the marathon!
