The Kyrgyz Adult Education Association, with the financial support of DVV International, within the framework of cooperation, conducted an extraordinary training on effective fundraising. The training was held from October 26 to 28 in Bishkek. The executive director of PF "the Agents of Change", who has many years of experience in project activities and a number of successfully implemented projects, was invited as a trainer. To date, the project activity affects all Training Centers that are members of the KAEA.
The target group of this training was the directors of the Training Centers located in the regions, as well as employees of the Executive Directorate of the KAEA. The necessity for this training came up during interaction with Learning Centers and identifying existing needs in the development of the project proposal in accordance with the requirements of funders. During the interactive work with the trainer in the event were discussed in detail all the stages of the project life cycle. Participants expressed their interest in developing a needs assessment when preparing a project proposal. What forms of assessment and methods exist? How is the description of the situation, the formulation of the problem, additional sources of information carried out and how to work with them? The following methods of collecting information are proposed:
- polls;
- review of statistical data;
- conducting research;
- focus group discussions;
- review of available research (desk analysis)
- meetings with experts, interviews;
- national strategic documents.
The formulation of the problem was worked out in detail in working groups using the example of project ideas that were selected at the beginning of the training for further development. The need to use confirmed data from external sources of information and available facts, as well as statistical data, was noted. Particular attention is paid to the formulation of the goals and objectives of the project, which is a key factor in obtaining grant support.
On the second day of the training proposed materials for preparation of the draft work plan, development of indicators, budgeting costs, identify potential risks and options for mitigation. Continuing the work in groups, the project ideas were revised taking into account the coach's assessment and recommendations.
The third day of the seminar was devoted to organizational issues. The presentation of the country director of DVV International Nadezhda Romanenko on cooperation for 2021-2023 was presented to the participants, and the main components of future activities were highlighted. Using the method of brainstorming, a draft of the KAEA action plan for 2021 was prepared, which will be taken as a basis and finalized by the KAEA Executive Directorate.
