Visiting the digital technology school 21 in Tashkent by the DVV International Uzbekistan team

Today, adult learning and education is an integral part of the development of both the individual and society in general. Digitalization has become one of the main drivers of the transformation of adult learning and education in the XXI century. Digital technologies not only open new opportunities for providing knowledge, but also change the very nature of the educational process, making it more flexible, interactive and learner-oriented.

During the Open Doors Day, the DVV International Uzbekistan team visited School 21, a free digital technology school in Tashkent, which is an excellent example of innovative and non-traditional approaches to adult learning. This school is a social project of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The state pays serious attention and invests many resources for the development of human capital in the country. Introduction and application of modern technologies and approaches in adult education and learning is an important element for preparing specialists to meet the modern requirements of the labor market and for contributing to the development of socio-economic sector in Uzbekistan.

During the visit, representatives of DVV International Uzbekistan familiarized with the unique methods used at the school, which are aimed at addressing the educational needs of adult learners over the age of 18. The key components of the school are the usage of digital technologies in learning and the peer-to-peer (P2P) methodology, which is characterized by the absence of teachers and mentors, instead everyone learns from everyone, through grouping, practice-oriented learning and constant communication to develop flexible skills and adaptation.  School 21 is a social project whose mission is to provide everyone with equal access to digital skills training. Community managers at the school allow adults to quickly adapt to the learning process, while the online platform allows learners to continue their education in a flexible format.

The school's programmes help adults not only to improve their qualifications, but also to build confidence in their abilities, open new opportunities for career growth and personal development. School 21 in Tashkent has become an excellent example of how modern methods and non-traditional approaches can transform the adult education system, making it more accessible, relevant and effective.

DVV International Uzbekistan team is interested in cooperation with School 21 for further exchange of experience, introduction of innovations and promotion of best practices in the field of adult learning and education in Uzbekistan.

Now the school is in the process of enrolment for the next series of trainings, which will start on January 27 and March 3.
