Visit of the representatives of the German Adult Education Association (Deutscher Volkshochschul-Verband e.V. — DVV) and its Institute for International Cooperation (DVV International) to Uzbekistan

On April 8 - 9, 2025, the representatives of the German Adult Education Association (Deutscher Volkshochschul-Verband e.V. — DVV) and its Institute for International Cooperation (DVV International) visited the city of Termez. The delegation included:

Katinka Maria Bartl – Deputy Director of the DVV and Head of Central Service

Arne Zielinski – Board Member of the DVV, Director of the Nuremberg Education Campus (the Education Campus of the City of Nuremberg is the organizational merger of the Education Centre (VHS).

Uwe Gartenschlaeger – Director of DVV International

Galina Verameichyk – Regional Director of DVV for Central Asia

The purpose of the visit was to familiarize with the activities of local partners, as well as to discuss prospects and potential directions for further cooperation.

On the first day of the visit, the foreign experts took part in a roundtable organized by the NGO "Barqaror Hayot" within the framework of the project “Learning Territories for Improving the Well-being of Citizens of Uzbekistan.” Stakeholders from government institutions and the civil society sector, motivated to work with vulnerable groups in their communities, were invited to the roundtable.

Participants of the roundtable had the opportunity to discuss current trends in adult learning and education, as well as to exchange experiences and views on topics of mutual interest.

On the second day, the delegation visited Penitentiary institution No. 41 in the Termez district, where the DVV Branch in Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the NGO "Barqaror Hayot," implements a set of activities aimed at the education and resocialization of inmates. The delegation familiarized with the facility’s infrastructure and the project's activities.

The guests highly appreciated the conditions that had been created and expressed their gratitude to the facility’s administration for supporting the ongoing initiatives.

The delegation also visited the Central Office of the NGO "Barqaror Hayot," where they were warmly welcomed by the team and were introduced to the organization’s mission, key programs, and the outcomes of its cooperation with DVV International. The visit contributed to strengthening the spirit of partnership between the partner organizations.
