Traditional networking meeting of partners of DVV Branch in Uzbekistan “Tashkent Evenings” this spring

April 10, 2025, DVV Uzbekistan gathered its partners - representatives of state, non-government and international organizations in Tashkent. For more than 20 years this event provides a platform for non-formal communication of partners, exchange of experience, opinions, establishment of useful contacts.
The event was organized as part of several intersectional important events:⤵️

✅Arrival to Uzbekistan of the management team of the German Adult Education Association (Deutscher Volkshochschul-Verband e.V. — DVV and the Institute for International Cooperation (DVV International).  The delegation included: Uwe Gartenschlaeger, Director of DVV International (he opened the office of DVV International in Uzbekistan in 2002 and gave start to informal meetings of partners “Tashkent Evenings”); Katinka Maria Bartl, Deputy Director of the DVV and Head of Central Service; Arne Zielinski, Board Member of the DVV, Director of the Nuremberg Education Campus (the Education Campus of the City of Nuremberg is the organizational merger of the Education Centre (VHS); Galina Verameichyk – Regional Director of DVV for Central Asia
✅The guests visited to Termez, where they took part in the round table “Learning Territories for Improving the Well-Being of Citizens of Uzbekistan” organized by the NGO “Barkaror Khayot”. They also visited the penitentiary institution No. 41 in Termez district, where DVV Branch in Uzbekistan jointly with the NGO “Barkaror Khayot” is implementing the project “Interaction between state institutions and civil society: Human Rights in Action: Championing Change with Youth and CSOs” supported by the EU Delegation in Uzbekistan and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
✅Participation of guests at the meeting of experts and trainers working in the field of adult learning and education at the Institute for the Development of Professional Education under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
✅Training on “Effective Communication and Mediation Skills” for civil society organizations and members of local advisory groups from the Ferghana Valley, within the framework of the regional project “TRUST - Together Unite Efforts for Regional Stability”, funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, was completed.
✅The working meeting of the project team “Promoting Gender Transformative Communities through Civil Participation”, supported by the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, was successfully completed.

Participants of all these events were invited to the “Tashkent Evenings”. We were very pleased to see representatives of our key governmental structures - the Education Sector Projects Office, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Institute for Development of Professional Education under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan for UNESCO under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan; international partners from the EU Delegation in Vienna and in Uzbekistan.

“Tashkent Evenings” was opened by Mr. Uwe Gartenschlager, who outlined an important role of adult learning and education to address current challenges and the need for everyone to contribute to the promotion of sustainable peace.

❗️The participants of the event were also welcomed by Lea Tries, representative of the Delegation of the European Union in Vienna, Katinka Maria Bartl, Arne Zielinski, Galina Veramejchyk. 
Head of DVV Branch in Uzbekistan, Tatyana Zaichenko introduced the partners and emphasized their vital role in ALE promotion. It is important to remember and understand that only through joint efforts of partner organizations we can promote adult learning and education, skills and competencies of the 21st century, making the world and our country better.

Then the participants of the event continued informal communication and familiarization with each other, as well as with the activities implemented by DVV Branch and partners in Uzbekistan.
