Dear friends!

The first stage of the contest marathon "Adult Education versus COVID-19" was completed on June 10, 2020.   As promised, we tell about its participants. The winner of the contest was Ismail Umarov, a 3rd year student of the Tashkent University of World Economy and Diplomacy. His poster calls to always study and the coronavirus is not a barrier to this, there are always alternatives to full-time education - the use of digital technologies and distance learning. Ismail's works (he sent three posters to the contest) were also awarded in the category "For the most complete disclosure of the topic". As a prize Ismail received one of the latest smartphone models, and his poster-winner became a visual brand of the contest marathon and will be used in the rest of the competition.

In addition, the winners in various categories and diplomas were the works of "Istiqbolli Avlod", "Ecoland" initiative group and individuals. Various aspects of the contest theme were covered in the posters. One of the posters of NGO "Istikbolli Avlod" became the winner in the category "For Daring!"(was the first poster sent to the contest) and dedicated to the volunteer movement. During the pandemic, volunteers come to the elderly and teach them how to use modern gadgets so that they could receive reliable information, contact various services, call the right specialist. At the same time, young people spend quite a lot of time ("hanging out") in social networks during the pandemic, so another poster of this organization ("The most youth and modern format!" nomination) reminds about the safety of such communication.

An interesting idea was put into the poster, which touched upon the problem of barriers to understanding between young and older generations (author Bekzod Usmanov, a student at Chirchik State Pedagogical University). The education of the older generation, in the opinion of Bekzod, is the only opportunity to overcome these barriers.
Bekzod's second work emphasizes that there is ordinary knowledge, and there is knowledge that can save lives. Bekzod's works have won in the category "For Knowledge and Promotion of World Masterpieces of Painting!"

The poster of student Guzal Mamatkulova - the future philologist (nomination "For Global Vision!") - attracted general attention.  The work is literally handwritten (made by hand), which already makes it unique.  Guzal tried to reflect the idea that if all efforts are put together (support of different donors, national measures in the conditions of pandemic, etc.), it is possible to defeat a dangerous virus.

An interesting graphic solution in the form of a logo was proposed by the designer (Madina Nazarova), who associatively linked the word "education" with the school whiteboard, on which after erasing the written, remains a kind of stripes. The author managed to show these stylized stripes on the red word COVID-19 (danger!), thus symbolically showing how education conquers this danger. The work won the "Most Beautiful Logo" nomination.

Jamshid Khakimov (a businessman from "Novelty Examination", an engineer-ecologist by education) represented the initiative group "Ecoland". He said the poster was created by Sanjarbek Khalikov and it was important to convey the idea of the need for adult education. "The reality is that it is necessary to learn all the time. After all, no one thought before the pandemic that many teachers would need to learn the basics of computer literacy. We wanted to express our belief that at any age it is possible to gain knowledge and develop". Since the poster shows flora and fauna, the contest committee noted this work in the category "For ecological interpretation of the topic!"

Each author approached the creation of the poster based on his own vision of the topic. The result is a very interesting palette of meanings and accents of adult education in a pandemic. All posters will be used in the activities of DVV International Uzbekistan, an exhibition of posters will be organized, and the best works will be the basis of desktop calendars with quotes on adult education, which will be published by DVV International Uzbekistan at the end of the year.

The competition marathon continues! The second stage has been announced - a video contest. This time three prizes will be drawn at once - three modern video cameras.  It is necessary to present a 3-minute video clip on the same topic: "Adult Education versus COVID-19".
