On December 17-18, 2024, the International Conference "Adult Learning and Education in Central Asia: Current Developments and Perspectives" took place in Tashkent. The conference brought together experts from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Germany, Armenia, and Georgia to discuss the developments of adult education approaches in the Central Asian region, the current challenges and measures to address them, as well as to present best practices and innovative approaches.
The conference was opened with welcome speeches by: Galina Veremeychik, Director of the Regional Office of DVV International for Central Asia in Bishkek; Dr. Michael Wimmer, Deputy Head of Mission and Head of Cooperation of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tashkent; Elmurod Ikboljon Ugli Najimov, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan for UNESCO; Uwe GartenSchleger, Director of DVV International, President of the European Association for Adult Education.
Partners from government and non-government organizations from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Germany, and Georgia gave engaging presentations about the work implemented in their countries, which is aimed at improving and creating a favorable learning environment for the population, with a special focus on vulnerable groups.
Partners of DVV International shared their experiences and achievements, as well as challenges and opportunities related to promoting lifelong learning in their countries.
