Rehabilitation of women returning from conflict zones

Surkhandarya social and educational center "Barkaror Hayot" (NGO) is the only non-governmental organization in the republic that has experience in the rehabilitation of women and children who have returned from areas of military conflict (Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq).

This target group requires a special approach based on the provision of highly professional psycho-emotional assistance in the first place, and on the subsequent phased implementation of other types of support. Work in this direction has been ongoing for only two years, but there are already some successes. Their achievement is assisted by experience in working with women from other target groups, but in some ways having similar specifics. Thus, the Barkaror Khaet Center, working with women and girls on probation and on parole, also considers social and psychological adaptation in inextricable unity, while social rehabilitation is carried out at different levels: at the macro environment level (society, makhalla) and at the microenvironment level (social group, family) .In addition, women are necessarily trained in any profession, which contributes to their confidence in the future and the desire to “live a new life.” Women who returned from In conflict, they also go through stages of psycho-emotional support and social rehabilitation, are trained in any profession. Currently, 2 women from the number of returnees work at the Barkaror Hayot Center on an ongoing basis, in direct interaction with Probation services, on a peer-to-peer basis "as social workers.
