Promotion of adult learning and education in the Asian region

The seminar on "Improving skills to promote adult learning and education" was held on September 4-6, 2019 by the South Asian Association for Basic Education and Adult Education (ASPBAE) in conjunction with the Regional Representative Office of the German Adult Education Association (DVV International) for Southeast Asia in the city of Bangkok, Thailand. 

The seminar was attended by representatives of civil society, adult education providers from Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Nepal, India, Laos, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. DVV International Uzbekistan was represented by project coordinator Radmir Khajbakhteev. The participants discussed the existing adult education systems in the countries of the region and their further development, examined ways to solve the problems faced by organizations in the promotion and implementation of adult education and training. It was noted that successfully functioning adult education systems in developing countries are essential for achieving SDG 4 “Ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning for all.” The meeting resulted in the development of a roadmap to promote adult learning and education at the national and regional levels.
