Contribution of DVV International partner organizations in promoting gender equality in Uzbekistan

In 2020, the world community will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and action Platforms . In Uzbekistan, after a series of consultations, a National (state) report on the implementation of the provisions of the Beijing Declaration and action Platforms was prepared, and the final version of the report on the same topic, compiled by Non-governmental non-profit organizations (parallel report), is being finalized.

In both reports, several partner organizations of the DVV Branch in Uzbekistan are mentioned as successful examples of improving the status of women, their promotion and empowerment. According to the state’s report, it’s the Scientific and Practical Research Center “Oila”, which works to realize women's rights and strengthen family values, the NGO “Sabr” (contribution to improving the legal literacy of women living in rural areas) and the NGO "Istikbolli Avlod"  ( contribution to the prevention of the spread of socially significant diseases). A parallel report notes the work of these NGOs, but in slightly different aspects of their activities: the "Istikbolli Avlod" network (combating human trafficking and domestic violence), the  NGO "SABR" (vocational training for women from low-income families and promoting the development of their business through microloans ). In addition, as a successful example, the results of the project “Strengthening the capacity of women and youth to solve socially significant problems in the Kashkadarya region”, supported by the DVV Branch in Uzbekistan in 2018 and implemented by the partner NGO "Yuksalish".
