Civil society organizations of Uzbekistan became members of the Asia South Pacific Association for basic and adult education (ASPBAE)

In early 2020, several NGOs in Uzbekistan applied for membership in ASPBAE, the Asia South Pacific Association for basic and adult education. More information about the Association and its activities can be found on its websites: aspbae.org and aspbae.wordpress.com.

ASPBAE is the regional civil society network established in 1964 which promotes the development of basic education, youth and adult education by considering human rights and the importance of lifelong learning. It consists of more than 100 civil society organizations and individuals working in more than 30 countries.

ASPBAE operates in four sub-regions - South and Central Asia, East Asia, South-East Asia and the Southern Pacific. Geographical coverage is quite significant and the differences in education systems are sometimes also considerable, especially between Central and South Asian countries. Currently, several organizations from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are ASPBAE members from Central Asia. Membership of the NGO from Uzbekistan in ASPBAE enabled the Central Asian countries to receive the status of a separate sub-region within the association.

DVV International is a partner of ASPBAE and for many years supports participation of representatives of Central Asia, including Uzbekistan, in various activities of the association, including programs on leadership capacity development (priority area of ASPBAE activities), institutional strengthening (exchange of experience, training) and others.
