MALE PRISONERS ENHANCED THEIR BUSINESS SKILS

35 male prisoners at the penitentiary institution 3/6 in Yavan District completed 42 academic hours of business planning course in March 29, 2021. All participants of the course were awarded by the Certificates. The courses helped to improve the entrepreneurial skills of the prisoners and prepare them to independently develop business ideas and business plans. Participants in the business planning course learned important points how to start new business and learned the requirements of local tax laws. These courses provided an opportunity for the prisoners to learn how to earn money and raise their income level, which ultimately will help prisoners in social reintegration into society and continue their lives, observing laws and public order.

Male prisoners had the opportunity to practice developing business plans based on business plan templates from the respective organizations which provide grants and loans.

Trainers adapted their curricula to organize course taking into account the regime in the penitentiary institution. In addition, during the training, all precautions for contamination of COVID-19 (masks, antiseptics and social distance) were observed.

The business planning course was organized by partner organization “Jahon” in cooperation with Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (DVV International) within the framework of the project "Promoting Access to Social, Economic, and Cultural Rights to Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners in Tajikistan" (SECRET 3), funded by the European Union the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.The project is being implemented by DVV International in Tajikistan in partnership with local civil society organizations “Bureau on Human Rights and Rule of Law” and “Jahon”.
