Successful Completion of Training on “Curriculum globALE” – An Accredited Program for Teachers and Trainers of Adult Education in Kosovo

The training on “Curriculum globALE,” a program dedicated to the professional development of teachers and trainers working in the field of adult education, has been successfully completed. This program is accredited by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI) and is organized by the Institute for Research and Development of Education (IRDE), in cooperation with the Faculty of Education, while being funded by DVV International in Kosovo. The cooperation between DVV International and the Faculty of Education has created new opportunities for the professional development of educators in Kosovo.

The purpose of “Curriculum globALE” is to provide a training program for adult educators, based on the principles and international standards of adult education. The program aims to enhance participants’ professionalism, support “Training of Trainers” initiatives, and promote the global exchange of knowledge and experiences. Through this training, participants strengthen their personal and professional capacities, gain advanced knowledge, and adopt modern methods and practical approaches in their field.

The program consists of five main modules:

  1. Approaches to Adult Education
  2. Adult Learning and Teaching
  3. Communication and Group Dynamics in Adult Education
  4. Methods of Adult Education
  5. Planning, Organization, and Evaluation in Adult Education

In the first training module, led by Prof. Teuta Danuza, participants explored the differences between pedagogy and andragogy and gained practical insights into applying core andragogical principles. They analyzed national and international adult education policies, identified key challenges and essential competencies for professionals, and reflected on their own role in advancing adult education.

The second module of “Curriculum globALE,” delivered by Prof. Naser Zabeli, addressed the key concepts of learning and teaching in andragogy, helping participants understand the connection between theory and practice in adult education. By the end of the module, each participant is expected to be able to analyze the factors that influence learning, assess the challenges of teaching, and improve their approaches within the educational process.

The third module, led by Prof. Fjolla Kaçaniku, focused on the crucial role of communication in adult education. Participants explored key concepts including verbal, non-verbal, and paraverbal communication, examined various communication elements and styles, and discussed how gender, culture, and the chosen medium can influence message delivery.

Additionally, the module examined group communication, its stages of development, and the key role of the educator in leading and managing the group. The aim of this module was to equip teachers with the skills to build effective relationships and create a collaborative learning environment.

The fourth module, led by Prof. Naser Zabeli, offered a framework for designing a four-day training course on adult education methods, covering techniques, strategies, and activities. As effective use of these methods requires both analysis and practice, the module emphasized hands-on application and reflection on their suitability in real teaching situations rather than purely theoretical knowledge.

The final module of Curriculum globALE, facilitated by Associate Prof. Kastriot Buza, provided foundational knowledge on planning, organization, and evaluation in adult education, with a particular emphasis on improving quality at all stages of the learning process.

The trainings were carried out according to a detailed plan, fully adhering to the planning cycle to ensure the delivery of effective and comprehensive programs. Through Curriculum globALE, the aim is to continue empowering educators and enhancing the overall quality of adult education in the country.
