DVV International Sri Lanka has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Agriculture to strengthen the implementation of the Lifelong Learning Model within Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector. The agreement was signed by Dr. W.A.R.T. Wickramaarachchi, Director General of Agriculture, and Nadeesha Palliyaguru, Program Coordinator of DVV International Sri Lanka Country Office, in the presence of officials from the Department of Agriculture’s Extension Division in Peradeniya.
Agriculture remains a cornerstone of Sri Lanka’s economy and holds vast potential for young people and adults who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET). Through this partnership, DVV International and the Department of Agriculture aim to modernize agricultural skills, promote entrepreneurship, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities across rural communities.
The collaboration also supports the government’s broader vision to transform and diversify the agriculture sector, connecting lifelong learning with innovation, productivity, and inclusive growth.
