MDF 2025: Puttalam Workshop Sets Groundwork for Multi-Sectoral Collaboration

In 2025, DVV International expanded its multi-sectoral approach to the provinces, identifying Puttalam and Ampara as pilot districts for strengthening pathways of lifelong learning. The first district-level workshop was held in Puttalam, on Sri Lanka’s west coast, a district known for its diverse landscapes, coastal livelihoods, and vibrant agricultural communities.

The two-day workshop served as an entry point to map service delivery pathways for youth and adults not in education, employment, or training (NEET). Bringing together government, community, and private-sector actors, the sessions encouraged dialogue on how different sectors can collaborate more effectively to meet local learning and employment needs.

The participatory process helped identify new opportunities for skills development, entrepreneurship, and inclusive economic growth. Importantly, it highlighted the critical role of the private sector in shaping training relevance and market linkages, reaffirming the value of joint action across all sectors to make lifelong learning systems more responsive and sustainable.
