From Meeting Tables to Game Boards: When Learning Comes Alive

At DVV International Sri Lanka, innovation is something we practice, not just plan. As part of our MESO level capacity development work, the Sri Lanka team has been developing an in-house board game to turn complex adult learning systems into an interactive and easy-to-grasp experience.

The first version was shared with fellow German organizations to introduce our work, programmes, and target groups. It was later tested during German Reunification Day and finally taken into working sessions with government officers. Each setting became a learning space of its own, bringing fresh insights, sharper messages, and new improvements to the game.

What started as a creative experiment has now grown into a powerful conversation tool. The board game helps visualize our programmes, pathways, and partnerships, while clearly presenting who we work with and the communities we serve. It invites dialogue, curiosity, and reflection, allowing people to engage with our work not through presentations, but through experience.

At DVV International Sri Lanka, we do not only design programmes. We design experiences.
