On July 8, the State Institution “Ukrainian Institute for Education Development” under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine announced the decision of the Expert Commission on Civic and Historical Education to confer the status “Approved for Use in the Educational Process” to the course program "Myths of Soviet Propaganda: The Ukrainian Dimension" for general secondary education institutions.

This integrated elective course is designed for students in grades 10 (11) and aims to introduce them to the theory and practice of how the Soviet totalitarian propaganda operated. It is called to equip students with the skills to recognize political propaganda and understand its destructive impact on society. The course also highlights how the historical mechanisms, strategies, and myths of Soviet propaganda are being transformed and actively used by modern Russian propaganda.

"Myths of Soviet Propaganda: The Ukrainian Dimension" contributes to the development of students' civic competence. At the same time, it enhances the role and potential of the core humanities subjects such as history, law, civic education, Ukrainian language and literature, and the arts. The recommended duration of the course is 35 academic hours per year (1 hour per week).

Teaching materials for the course, including "History as Propaganda" and "Totalitarian Propaganda", are available on our website.
