DVV International has appointed Elizabeth Chiwewe as the Country Director for Malawi effective 1st June, 2026.
Chiwewe joined DVV International in March 2022 as Programme Officer and later rose to the position of Senior Programme Officer in January 2023.
She holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from DMI St. Eugene University and a Bachelor of Social Sciences from the University of Malawi. Chiwewe enriches DVV International in particular and Adult Learning and Education (ALE) sector in general with her hands on experience in monitoring, evaluation, learning and project management.
Her appointment comes at a time when DVV International is expanding its ALE activities in Malawi. This includes the expansion to new districts of the Community Learning Centres, ALE Management Information System and the introduction of the Kuphunzira Sikumatha brand, which is a localised version of lifelong learning, which will be officially launched on 2 July 2026.
DVV International officially opened its doors in Malawi in December 2017. The Malawi Country Office is also the Regional Office for Southern Africa which covers South Africa and Mozambique. Unlike the Mozambican and South African offices, Malawi had no country director before the aforementioned appointment.
