The programme focused on fisheries value addition, community based livelihoods, and practical learning approaches connected to coastal communities in southern Sri Lanka.
Together with Esther Hirsch and the DVV International Sri Lanka team, the delegation observed practical training related to dry fish processing, Maldive fish preparation, hygiene standards, packaging techniques, and small scale entrepreneurship development.
The initiative highlighted how practical skills training and lifelong learning approaches can directly support local income opportunities while preserving traditional knowledge systems connected to Sri Lanka’s fisheries communities.
