On February 11 to 13 Adult Education Days 2014, organised by the Association for congruous development of youth and adults under financial and methodical support of the DVV International (German Adult Education Association) Branch office and the Representative office of UNESCO in Uzbekistan will be held at the Exhibition Hall in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Historical background
The “Adult Education Week” as an Action was born in the United Kingdom in 1992 and was supported by the UNESCO Hamburg Conference in 1997 as an efficient and mobilising people for continuation of learning event. Today over 60 countries implement this action yearly worldwide. In Uzbekistan since 2005 to 2009 under the support of various German organisations a week titled as “History and Identity” was held. Certain activities of the “Week” could be thematically determined to as adult education.
In 2012 Association for congruous development of youth and adults under financial and methodical support of the DVV International (German Adult Education Association) Branch office for Uzbekistan has held Adult Education Days in Fergana. It was attended by nearly 80 representatives of state and non-governmental educational structures, public associations and other stakeholders of the Andijan, Namangan and Fergana regions. The Association disseminates national and international experience in the field of non-formal education to improve quality of services provided to various population groups. The aim of the trainers and experts was to discuss issues related to licensing of non-governmental educational institutions, tax policy, management psychology, business planning, and promotion of educational services.
Sustaining traditions
In 2014, the tradition of organising Adult Education Days in Uzbekistan shall be continued. This event will summarise changes in the field of adult education after the National Forum on Adult Education, which was held in Tashkent in late 2011. This will be done whithin the conference on December 13.
The Aim
Adult Education Days are aimed at the development and further improvement of adult education in the country and at promoting the idea of lifelong learning.
Participants
Participants of the event will be representatives of governmental bodies, the general public and foreign guests. Admission to the exhibition of adult education providers and open classes is free of charge. Conference participants will receive personal invitations (50 pers.).
Exhibition of adult education providers and open classes
During the Adult Education Days an exhibition of organisations offering educational services to the adult population will be held. The exhibition will be open for all visitors for two days. In those days various workshops and open classes, which can be participated by all guests will take place. Participation at open training sessions will allow acquiring knowledge and practical skills in various fields starting from computer skills to crafts and other areas of vocational training.
This is a unique opportunity for all those who have completed their education in the formal education sector to join the process of acquiring knowledge again, to feel disciple and enjoy the process of interacting with the craft masters, trainers and other students. There are various prizes to the participants of open classes (the most successful, the youngest, the most "Adult", etc.), as well as discount vouchers for visiting long-term courses foreseen.
Conference
The conference within in the "Adult Education Days 2014" will consider legal framework conditions for adult education development and discuss the challenges faced by adult education providers .
The outcome of the work conducted will be recommendations made to improve the education sector aiming at development of continuous education in the country in general and specific forms of adult learning in particular.
Closing of the Adult Education Days 2014
The final part of the event will be dedicated to awarding certificates, training vouchers to participants of various workshops and the winners of the photo contest "Never late to learn".
