Over six days, the Think Tank Workshop brought together a dynamic mix of people and institutions shaping the future of adult learning and education in Sri Lanka. It became a living space for exchange, reflection, and collaboration, where ideas met practice and where diverse voices came together for a common purpose.
The workshop gathered representatives from government, non-governmental, and community organizations working across many sectors including agriculture, fisheries, construction, youth, women’s empowerment, vocational and technological education, non-formal learning, handicrafts, spices, agro-products, and self-employment. Each sector shared its experiences and challenges, exploring how adult learning can strengthen livelihoods and opportunities for all.
With active participation from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Economic Development, the sessions went beyond discussion. Together, the participants mapped key players in Sri Lanka’s lifelong learning ecosystem and jointly designed activity plans to expand adult learning initiatives across the country.
What made the workshop truly special was its spirit, a genuine sense of collaboration, curiosity, and commitment to make learning accessible, practical, and empowering for every individual. It reminded everyone that adult education is not a single field, but a shared journey that connects people, sectors, and possibilities.
