Recently, the State University of the Republic of Moldova signed a cooperation agreement as part of an Erasmus+ academic mobility project with Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg in Bavaria, Germany. The project provides for mobility programs for students and faculty between universities in EU member states and universities in non-associated or pre-associate countries.
Under these programs, faculty members from partner universities benefit from study and research internships in their fields of specialization with the aim of facilitating the exchange of advanced expertise and the transfer of modern and effective approaches.
The signing of the agreement was preceded by preliminary discussions and expressions of mutual interest in such exchanges, which took place in the summer of 2024 when Prof. Dr. Regina Egetenmeyer from the University of Würzburg, a specialist in comparative studies in the field of lifelong learning (LLL), visited Chisinau, at the invitation of DVV International office in Moldova. The University of Würzburg promotes and implements various types of academic exchange projects, including the Winter Academy in adult education and the double degree program—the latter offering participants not only unique experiences but also academic credits and certifications from two universities simultaneously.
The cooperation programme between the universities of Chisinau and Würzburg is a first of its kind, and, with the anticipated enriching experiences and positive outcomes, it has the potential to benefit many generations of students and educational staff.
