As part of the activities of the Council for Adult Education in Sarajevo Canton, established within the Chamber of Commerce of Sarajevo Canton and supported by DVV International – Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina, a presentation of the draft Advocacy Plan for Adult Education in Sarajevo Canton was held on October 20, 2025, in Sarajevo. This document represents the first attempt at a systematic approach to advocating and promoting adult education at the cantonal level in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Advocacy Plan outlines key directions for action with the aim of making adult education recognized as an important segment of lifelong learning and social development within Sarajevo Canton.
The drafting process was preceded by consultative meetings with Council members from the public, private, and non-governmental adult education sectors, individual interviews with representatives of relevant institutions and organizations, and an analysis of the current status of accredited providers in the Canton, under the expert guidance of Prof. Dr. Almir Peštek. This participatory process ensured that the Plan reflects the real needs and priorities of all Council members.
During a constructive dialogue at the meeting, the draft document was presented, with a call to Council members to submit additional comments, suggestions, and proposals within seven days, in order to make the final version of the Plan as high-quality and inclusive as possible.
This process once again confirms the importance of the Council for Adult Education of Sarajevo Canton as a key mechanism for coordination, dialogue, and policy development in the field of adult education. The Council brings together 17 representatives of accredited adult education providers, whose active participation contributes to better decision-making and joint development of the adult education sector.
DVV International – Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina invites all accredited adult education providers in Sarajevo Canton who have not yet joined the Council to do so and contribute to the development of this sector.
