In Guliston city a training on life skills was held for employees of the branches of the State Institution "Adult Training Center of Tajikistan"

About 20 people from among the employees of the branches of the State Institution "Adult Training Center of Tajikistan" (ATC) in Sughd and Khatlon regions, districts of republican subordination and Dushanbe city took part in the training which lasted from October 14 to October 16, 2022 in Guliston city of Sughd region. The training was conducted with the support of the country Office of the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (DVV International) in Tajikistan and sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The training participants learned bout how to communicate with people with disabilities, the philosophy of independent living, first aid measures and the prevention of viral infectious diseases.

Saida Inoyatova, Director of the League of Women with Disabilities “Ishtirok, who participated in the training as a trainer, said that the participants will apply the acquired knowledge while working in ATCs.

“When vocational training courses are organized in the centers, for example, on carpentry, sewing, etc., the responsible persons of the ATC, along with the profession tells the participants about the approach to people with disabilities, the philosophy of their independent living, first aid measures and prevention of viral and infectious diseases,” said Saida Inoyatova.

Since 2009 the Country office of DVV International in Tajikistan, has been building the capacity of the directors and teaching staff of the branches of the ATC on interactive methods of adult training. Starting from 2018, trainings for the employees of the ATC were organized in Dushanbe, Penjikent cities and Rasht district, mainly in order to improve work with people with disabilities. The training sessions covered topics such as communication skills, the philosophy of independent living, the reproductive rights of women with disabilities, first aid, and the prevention of viral and infectious diseases.

As part of the implementation of projects of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), trainings were held for approximately 60 teachers of the ATC in Dushanbe and its branches in the cities and districts of Kulyab, Yavan, Bokhtar, Nurek, Guliston, Isfara and Kanibadam . In the future, life skills trainings will be included in the service packages of the ATC and applied depending on the requirements of the local community, including persons with disabilities.
