Project of ADRA Kyrgyzstan supported by DVV International
We have had a busy project month of May. But we are very pleased with the results. Ten participants of the course deeply immersed themselves in the topic of kurak, in all the subtleties and nuances of the craft. More than 60 people attended workshops on sewing handbags and key holders in the style of kurak. Anticipating the results in the final of the project, we joke about our adult students: “At the end of the course, we will have 90 new Cholpon Alamanovs!” Cholpon Alamanova is known by many as an expert in the world of kurak in Kyrgyzstan and outside the country.
This project has a very accurate name "University of the Third Age." Project participants are in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. All are successful students. We want (and we succeed!) to dispel the myth that old age is a dead end for mankind. No! This is the time for bold realizations, for unexpected discoveries and amazing creative projects. One of the participants shares: “I am a seamstress. I have always wanted to learn how to sew patchwork. It's so bright, beautiful. I even tried to take lessons from the Internet. It didn't turn out very well. And in this project such an excellent course, just a gift. The courses are very serious and methodical. Now I know how to sew a patchwork quilt of any complexity. It really is EDUCATION.”
Regularly visit our page, and you will see that age is not a hindrance to a dream.
