TRUST Project: Capacity-Building Trainings Held in Khujand and Tashkent

As part of the TRUST – TogetheR Unite efforts for regional StabiliTy project, a series of capacity-building trainings were held in April to support peacebuilding efforts in the Ferghana Valley.

  • On April 8–9, a training session was conducted in Khujand for participants from Kanibadam district (Tajikistan).
  • On April 10–11, another session took place in Khujand for participants from Isfara district (Tajikistan).
  • On April 9–10, a parallel training was organised in Tashkent for participants from Besharyk and Kuvasay districts (Uzbekistan).

These sessions brought together members of the Local Advisory Groups, along with selected Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Initiative Groups actively engaged in the TRUST project.

The primary objectives of the trainings were to:

  • Enhance participants’ understanding of conflict dynamics;
  • Promote the application of a conflict-sensitive approach and peacebuilding practices;
  • Strengthen communication and leadership skills;
  • Improve capacities in conflict management and problem-solving at the community level.

These trainings are particularly significant as the TRUST project currently supports 24 peace projects and initiatives across the Ferghana Valley. These initiatives aim to strengthen transborder cooperation and promote sustainable peace in the region. The skills and knowledge gained during the trainings will be essential for the successful implementation of these mini-projects.

Furthermore, the trainings were especially valuable for members of the Local Advisory Groups, who serve as local decision-makers. The acquired skills are highly relevant to their everyday work and responsibilities. These events also fostered collaboration between Local Advisory Groups members and civil society representatives, strengthening the foundations for long-term cooperation and community resilience.

The project is implemented by DVV International with the support of the European Union and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, in partnership with key organisations: “Youth of Osh” Public Association in Kyrgyzstan, NGO “Mehrjon” in Uzbekistan, and “Saodat” Public Organisation in Tajikistan.
