On 28 February 2026, the two-year project “Promoting Gender Transformative Communities through Civil Participation” , co-funded by the European Union (European Union in Uzbekistan) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) (Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ)), was completed.
The project was implemented by the DVV branch in Uzbekistan in partnership with the “SABR” National Center for Socio-Economic Development. Its aim was to empower civil society organizations of Uzbekistan to engage as independent actors of inclusive and effective democratic governance and development .
Within the project, a platform was established for collaboration among civil society organizations, local authorities, representatives of mahalla citizens’ assemblies, and active residents , aimed at promoting a gender-transformative approach , including expanding women’s participation in public and economic life.
In the final days of the project, a video was produced and broadcast on national television, highlighting the relevance and significance of the results achieved. It presents real stories of women who, thanks to the support of the project, were able to overcome obstacles, realize their potential, and take an active role in public and economic life (the video is available at: https://clck.ru/3SURWx).
We would like to thank all our partners, participants and experts for their contribution, trust and collaboration .
