Dr. Thekla Kelbert is about to say goodbye after more than 4 years as regional director of DVV International Central Asia. During her time in Central Asia, she has greatly contributed to advancing adult learning and education (ALE) in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, and looks back on remarkable achievements. On behalf of the entire team of DVV International Central Asia, we express our gratitude for the fruitful work and sensitive leadership. We much appreciated working, learning, and laughing with you and wish you all the best for your future endeavours.
“At the end of my 4 and a half years as DVV International’s Regional Director for Central Asia I can say I look back at an incredible fulfilling time in Kyrgyzstan and the region. Together with our partners and the DVV International team, we have used this time for the further expansion of adult education offers and access, the professionalization of adult educators and managers as well as their organizations, and also the development of political strategies in this sector. Since I was here with my family and we also had the opportunity to experience Kyrgyz hospitality, country side and culture, I can say that the country and its people have played a particularly enriching role in our lives. I wish everyone involved in promoting ALE further success, and the region in general peace, stability and progress.”
