Small grants program for youth initiatives

As part of the "Youth Empowerment for Digital Governance" (Youth GO) project—funded by the European Union and co-funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)—the Small Grants Program was launched. To date, 14 small grants have been successfully implemented across all 7 regions of Kyrgyzstan, bridging digital solutions, civic engagement, leadership, and environmental responsibility.

Core Grant Focus Areas:

  • Digitalization and AI: Implementing AI in rural areas, launching the "Anonym Mektep" (Anonymous School) system, and creating media channels for dialogue between youth and authorities.
  • Civic Participation: Developing youth councils and involving young people in decision-making at the village level.
  • Leadership: Providing career guidance, modern skills, and opportunities for local self-realization.
  • Community and Ecology: Uniting youth and fostering environmental initiatives.

Key Outcomes:

  • Sustainable Spaces & Tools: Launched youth spaces and digital tools, including school safety and feedback systems with the potential to reach 7,000 students.
  • Capacity Building: Over 400 participants took part in trainings, quizzes, and educational activities.
  • Public Dialogue: Conducted 20+ public dialogues, roundtables, and meetings.
  • Governance Engagement: Involved 100+ representatives from local communities and authorities, establishing a sustainable mechanism for regular dialogue between youth and local government.
  • Media Production: Created 15+ social videos and media products.

Empowering Youth Initiatives and Organizations

All youth initiatives and organizations awarded these small grants received more than just financial support; they were provided with training, mentorship, and essential technical equipment (laptops, printers, and digital tools).

This comprehensive support enabled them to effectively implement their projects, develop leadership skills, create development-focused initiatives, and build productive relationships with local authorities.
