A national hackathon called "Digital Youth Participation" took place in the Kyrgyz Republic from December 19th to 20th, 2024. Teams from all regions of the country participated, representing the diverse areas of Kyrgyzstan.
The primary goal of the hackathon was to develop digital solutions and products that would help activate young people in civic engagement and increase their involvement in addressing social issues through innovative technologies.
Participants faced the following key tasks: generating innovative ideas for the development of digital youth participation, creating solutions to raise the level of civic activity through digital platforms, developing tools to raise citizens' awareness of their rights and responsibilities in the digital space, and developing solutions for youth interaction with government bodies through digital technologies.
The hackathon program was packed with activities, including educational sessions where participants gained new knowledge and prepared to develop their projects. Discussions and interactive sessions created a productive atmosphere that fostered the exchange of ideas and the development of team potential.
On the second day, teams focused on refining their projects and preparing for the final pitch. Participants demonstrated a high level of engagement, creativity, and an innovative approach to solving the tasks at hand.
As a result of the hackathon, 14 ideas were developed for digital solutions and products aimed at activating youth in civic participation and increasing involvement in addressing social issues using innovative technologies.
This hackathon marked an important stage in involving young people in decision-making processes and social development. It provided participants with the opportunity not only to demonstrate their creative and technical abilities, but also to actively work on real social problems using innovative digital solutions.
The hackathon was held within the framework of the "Youth Go" project, funded by the European Union and co-funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by DVV International in cooperation with the Institute for Youth Development (IYD).
