Today, knowledge of a foreign language is more than an educational skill. For young people planning to study or develop their careers in Germany, German has become an integral part of professional preparation and an important factor in building a successful educational and career pathway.
Quality language training therefore requires cooperation among educational institutions, language schools, employers, government bodies and organisations supporting labour mobility.
This was the focus of a roundtable held in Bishkek on 22 September as part of the DVV International Kyrgyzstan “Deutsch Global” project. The meeting brought together 21 representatives of DVV International, the German House, language schools, private employment agencies and government institutions.
Participants discussed Au Pair, Ferienjob and Ausbildung programmes, language training and international telc certification. Particular attention was given to making the pathway from learning German to studying or working in Germany more accessible, structured and transparent.
Language was viewed as part of comprehensive preparation. German proficiency not only helps candidates meet formal requirements, but also enables them to better understand the educational and working environment and adapt to life in Germany.
Representatives of the German House presented opportunities for cooperation with vhs-Cham, the organisation of telc examinations and preparations for the examination session in October. Participants also discussed the professional development of German language teachers and the use of vhs-Lernportal, a free digital platform for learning German.
In this way, certification and digital tools become elements of an integrated system: quality preparation → objective assessment of language proficiency → further education or professional development.
The discussion also addressed the protection of labour rights and access to information about mobility opportunities and conditions. Access to quality language training, reliable information and transparent certification helps candidates better understand available opportunities and prepare consciously for the next stage.
The roundtable laid the foundation for further cooperation between DVV International Kyrgyzstan, the German House, language schools, employment agencies and government institutions. In this context, Deutsch Global serves not only as a language training project, but also as a platform for building partnerships that contribute to more accessible, transparent and fair pathways for educational and professional mobility.
