Within the framework of the project ‘Expanding access to non-formal adult education in public libraries of Kyrgyzstan’, implemented by Information and Resource Centres (IRC) with the support of DVV International, a training for trainers-librarians on ‘Entrepreneurship Fundamentals and Business Planning’ was provided.
The purpose of the training was to provide librarians with knowledge and tools to educate the population on the basics of entrepreneurship and to create conditions for training the population on the basics of business. During the 4-day training, participants:
- Studied types of entrepreneurial activities and legal aspects of starting and running a business in Kyrgyzstan.
- Mastered the taxation system and forms of reporting documents.
- Gained skills in analysing the market, competitive environment and developing a marketing strategy.
- They learned how to write a business plan, including pricing and product strategies, an organisational plan, a risk management plan and a financial plan.
The knowledge gained enabled the librarians to develop a 60-hour entrepreneurship course programme tailored to the needs of the local community. The courses have already been completed by 230 participants from different regions of the country. The course programme includes: Theoretical classes on the legal basics of starting a business, writing a business plan and the basics of marketing. Practical sessions such as excursions to successful enterprises, meetings with entrepreneurs and networking.
