Open day at public libraries

From 17 to 26 September 2019, " Open Days" took place within the framework of the project "Libraries as spaces for adult education" at the adult education centers of public libraries in Batken, Talas, Osh, and Bishkek. The project is implemented jointly with the Association "Library and Information Consortium" in Kyrgyzstan.

After the opening of the symbolic doors, the visitors had an opportunity to get acquainted with activities of DVV International in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia, to learn about planned activities in public libraries, which will include various trainings (financial literacy, computer skills, learning English and Russian languages, critical thinking, etc.). Libraries will also develop and implement club and other training activities for the general public, as well as for particularly vulnerable groups.

Great interest was raised by various master classes, which were conducted by the library staff themselves, such as jewelry assembly, work with polymer clay, slicing of fruits and vegetables, handicrafts of felt, beading and much more.

It was nice to see that, despite the respectable age many guests participated with passion in all activities.

Also, trainings were held on photography, financial literacy, massage of parents with children with disabilities, painting, processing of dairy products at home.

Local media correspondents were invited to cover the events, and all information about the events was posted on social networks.
