Adult Training - the Path to Employment

The State Institution "Adult Training Center of Tajikistan " (ATC) of the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Republic of Tajikistan, together with public organizations and international organizations based in Tajikistan, attracts young and adult citizens, especially women, to vocational training. In this institution, citizens have vocational training courses and obtain the specialties of confectionary and tailoring, computer and accounting, electrician and plumber, potter and jeweler, as well as several other specialties that respond to the labor market, including life skills. Four women who have studied at MTKT branches and got a job told about their successes.

 

Adult Training - the Path to Employment

The State Institution "Adult Training Center of Tajikistan " (ATC) of the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Republic of Tajikistan, together with public organizations and international organizations based in Tajikistan, attracts young and adult citizens, especially women, to vocational training. In this institution, citizens have vocational training courses and obtain the specialties of confectionary and tailoring, computer and accounting, electrician and plumber, potter and jeweler, as well as several other specialties that respond to the labor market, including life skills. Four women who have studied at MTKT branches and got a job told about their successes.

Mavjuda Eshonova, 51 years old, from Guliston city, Sughd region, was a housewife. She said that at the beginning of this summer, the representative of the ATC branch in Guliston visited their neighborhood and informed them about the upcoming trainings.

“They invited to come, have trainings and get a profession. I went and chose “Confectionery” for preparation of cookies and cakes", said Mavjuda Eshonova.

According to Mavjuda, the classes lasted from June to July, 2022 and 15 housewives from Guliston graduated from the confectionary course. Majuda praised the teaching method in the center and its existing facilities.  

“The kitchen appliances were all new. All equipment was provided with the support of the DVV International Country Office in Tajikistan. We studied 3 times a week. "I learned how to make “Napoleon” and “Medovi” cakes and all kinds of sweets," said Mavjuda Eshonova.

According to her, now she receives orders from her relatives and neighbors to prepare the sweets and earns money. Mavjuda also offers her baked sweets to local stores where she lives. She says that along with all these activities, she encourages other women in her area to go to the ATC and get a profession.

During the participation in training sessions she got motivated and decided to apply to a university.  Today, Mavjuda Eshonova, at the age of 51, is a student of the Faculty of "Primary Education and Special Pedagogy" of Khujand State University named after Academician B. Gafurov.

The representative office of ATC Guliston provides with not only courses on vocational training, but also trainings on life skills, personal development, management, effective communication and etc.

Gulnora Kholmirzoyeva is another woman from Guliston city who learned how to work with a computer at the ATC.

Gulnora says that she also participated in the training sessions of the ATC in the summer of 2022.

"I work in the representative office of the insurance company "Tojiksugurta" in Guliston city. Before, I did not know how to work with a computer, every time I asked my colleagues for help. I participated in computer literacy courses, all the computers were brand new, made available with the support of DVV International. I learned to work with Excel and Word. Now I don't ask my colleagues for help anymore, I do everything myself." - stated Gulnora. She plans to go to the ATC once again to study 1C - accounting program.

Mavjuda Zabirova, a resident of Norak city, one more graduate of adult training courses, who is currently training other adults. In 2018, Majuda participated for the first time in the seminars held by the public organization "Tomiris" in Norak city supported by DVV International.

"The trainings were organized one after the other, I participated and at the same time learned how they work. Later, I was invited to work as a trainer in the public organization "Tomiris". With the suppot of DVV International, at the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, I completed a four-month course on andragogy - a method of adult trainings," Mavjuda Zabirova said.

Now she conducts seminars herself on life skills in the branch and representative offices of ATC in Norak city and in the rural community of Sebiston, Dangara.

Mastona Berdiyeva, a resident of Norak used to sew at home and improved her skills at the ATC branch through seminars on personal development, management, effective communication and adult training methods, and now she teaches sewing skills to other women and girls.

Mastona says that in 2021 she came for the first time to participate in seminars organized by the public organization "Tomiris" supported by DVV International. Later, Mastona got a job.  

"Every year I teach sewing to two or three groups of 15 women and girls. All women participate from the beginning and complete the courses, almost all got involved in income generating activities. There are a lot of interested women. Most of the women who are housewives want to sit at home and earn money," said Mastona Berdiyeva

DVV International Country Office in Tajikistan has been promoting the concept of Community Learning Centers in Tajikistan together with the public organizations "Saodat" and the cultural and educational center "Tomiris". Currently, the branches and representative offices of the State Institution "Adult Training Center of Tajikistan" in cities Norak, Guliston, Vahdat and rural community Sebiston of Dangara district offer vocational training and life skills to young people and adults. This activity is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
