VOCATIONAL COURSES IN NORAK’S PENITENTIARY INSTITUTION 3/8

Dushanbe, July 21. 2023

On July 22, 2023, within the framework of the “Protecting the Social, Economic, and
Cultural Rights of Prisoners and Ex-prisoners in Tajikistan” project, the process of attestation of the students of vocational courses on “Confectioner” and “Hairdresser” will take place among 20 female prisoners in the penitentiary institution 3/8 of Norak city. Two vocational courses were held from May to July 2023, and the female prisoners themselves acted as the masters of these courses.

It is important to note that earlier, from April to May of this year, potential candidates from among female prisoners were selected in this correctional institution, then they were trained to train masters of such professions as a confectioner, hairdresser, seamstress, and now they themselves can train other prisoners on these professions. During the vocational courses, two teachers from the State Institution “Adult Training Center of Tajikistan” provided mentoring support to the masters, corrected the course of the training process, and made recommendations for improving trainings.

This activity is carried out within the framework of the “Protecting the Social, Economic, and Cultural Rights of Prisoners and Ex-prisoners in Tajikistan” project, which is funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is implemented by the DVV International in Tajikistan in partnership with public organizations "Jahon" and "Bureau on Human Rights and Rule of Law".
