Objectives of the action

Overall objective: Contributing to the liberalization processes of penitentiary system in the Kyrgyz Republic through adult education. 

Specific objective: Supporting the social re-integration process of prisoners by vocational education, life skills and capacity building of personnel in pilot prisons.

Target group(s)

At least 254 female and male prisoners of 3 penal institutions. 

60 Trainers and instructors of production training in 5 professions. 20 prison psychologists, deputy directors and the heads of prison detachments.

In the period from March 2012 to April 2013, TOT was carried out on the following topics:

• 06/19/2012-22.06.2012 - “Features of prison psychology”

• 06.02.2013-09.02.13 - “Modern production technologies”. Profession: Brick Burner.

• 06.02.2013-09.02.13 - “Modern production technologies”. Profession: “Electrician”.

• 13.02.2013-16.02.2013 - “Modern production technologies”. Profession: “Baker-Confectioner”.

• 13.02.2013-16.02.2013 - “Modern production technologies”. Profession: “Seamstress”.

• February 18, 2013-21 February 2013 - “Modern production technologies”. Profession: “Seamstress”.

Results

1. For today was strengthened and rebuilt the infrastructure of vocational schools on the basis of the three targeted institutions.
2. The project developed educational and methodological modules in 5 professions. Made visual aids and materials. Purchased reference books.
3. In order to establish a communication system and create effective cooperation, the Project Supervisory Board (NSP) was created. This “Platform for the development of cooperation” is necessary for the exchange of information on the development of the project, its results, for a possible change in the project implementation strategy. The NSP included representatives of dvv international, the Kyrgyz Association for Adult Education, the Agency for Vocational Education, the State Penitentiary Service, as well as the directors of educational institutions and the heads of correctional institutions.
