In September, the DVV International branch office in Uzbekistan announced a competitive small grants programme for civil society organizations on the topic: “Innovative approaches in promoting youth and women”. One goal of the programme was to find new potential partners working interestingly and creatively, orienting themselves on social programmes with prospects for development.
Participants in the competition were asked to propose project ideas/activities aimed at:
38 applications were received from nongovernmental organizations of different directions from different regions of Uzbekistan. However, only six winning applications were selected (taken into account: compliance with the topic, creative approach, commitment to the target group, compliance with the organization’s mission, geographical location, adequacy of the budget, etc.).
The winners of the program are as follows:
Project: “We, volunteers, are for the world without violence” - enhancing the potential of young activists of partner NGOs
Project: "Strengthening the potential of women and youth to solve socially significant tasks in Kashkadarya region" - formation and development of women's human rights initiatives at the local level
Project: “Safe Future” - prevention of radicalism/extremism to reduce youth involvement in this sphere.
Project: “House Clubs - a step towards civil society”
Project: “Awareness is the key to success” - promulgation of negative impacts of extremist ideas among the population in three border districts.
Project: “Youth Ecological Parliament” - strengthening the potential of young people to solve environmental and socially significant tasks.
